Examination Preparation
The University Language Centre is a regional testing centre for IELTS (International English Language Testing System). This is an internationally recognised exam for students and professional people in academic and general English. Test are held at ULC on a monthly basis. Students on full-time English courses (eg. Gateway) are offered IELTS preparation classes as one of the course components. The centre also runs part-time IELTS Preparation Courses for people already in the UK who need to take the test for professional/academic reasons.
ULC is also an examination centre for a full range of externally validated English language qualifications. There is time-tabled exam practice on all full-time courses and students can prepare for any of the following: KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE (Cambridge); Oxford Preliminary and Higher, and Pitman Basic, Elementary, Higher Intermediate and Advanced. ULC also run part-time courses to prepare students for Cambridge First Certificate in English, Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
Provision can also be made for other international examinations.
